ENABLES ANALYSIS OF RARE CELLS (CTCs, FETAL CELLS) AND EXOSOMES

LiquidScan™ uses high-fidelity pipetting robotics to supply blood or other liquid biopsy samples to BioFluidica microfluidic chips positioned on the LiquidScan™ Module. The chips are surfaced with anti-biomarker antibodies for biomarker capture and the “no-loss” closed-loop pipetting system eliminates sample loss and aerosols and allows a relatively large volume of blood to be passed through the microfluidic chips. Captured cells or exosomes are released from the chip and collected for downstream molecular analysis.

LIQUIDSCAN™ WORKFLOW

The BioFluidica LiquidScan™ hardware & software modules are integrated into the Hamilton Microlab STARlet 8 or 16 channel liquid handling robot.The LiquidScan™ Software controls the STARlet liquid handling robot to simultaneously dispense and aspirate within the two-port microchip creating a closed-loop, no sample loss, microchip loading system.

The closed-loop system enables relatively large volumes of blood or plasma to be passed through the 25-35 ul volume chip for maximum biomarker extraction. Importantly, the system eliminates samples loss and aerosol production.

BLOOD COLLECTION TUBES (BCTs)

BCTs allow for collecting whole blood by a phlebotomist and shipping to BioFluidica for processing or for local on-site processing.

BCTs are standard blood draw EDTA purple-capped vacuum collection tubes containing 0.5 ml of B3.
(B3 = BioFluidica Blood Buffer to inhibit micro-clotting and allow for 24-hour room temperature shipping)
